3 Day First Aid at Work Course

Details

Designed to give the First Aider the skills necessary to give effective life support, diagnose and treat injuries or illness and maintain care and comfort of the casualty. With an emphasis on dealing with life threatening situations and keeping the casualty alive until professional help arrives. Delegates will learn a high level of practical skills and theoretical knowledge, so that they can deal with a wide range of situations that may arise in the work environment.

Contents

The role and responsibilities of the first aider, Incident and casualty assessment, unresponsive casualties (including seizure), Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), Choking, Wounds and bleeding, Shock, Minor injuries, Injuries to bones and joints, sprains and strains, Head injuries and spinal injuries, Chest injuries, Burns and scalds, Eye injuries, Poisons, Anaphylaxis, Heart attack and angina, Stroke, Epilepsy, Asthma, Diabetes.

Examinations

All Delegates will undertake a formal assessment on completion of the course. First Aid at work certificates are valid for three years and HSTS will send an automatic reminder to the customer three months prior to the expiry date of the certificate. Certificates can be renewed by attending a 2 day first aid at work re-qualifying training course.

Forestry Add-On

For those working in the Forestry industry, the Forestry commission recommends additional training for special hazards which may be encountered. These include severe chainsaw cuts, crush injuries, hypothermia, Lyme disease. This "+F" course is available for an additional £25 and can be booked by contacting us.
